Detailed Description
TRADITION RECORDS CD
Traditions Records has long been known to folk music scholars as America's premier folk music label. The artists that recorded for the label in the 50's and 60's played a pivotal role in shaping our country's musical heritage and provided the blueprint for today's singer/songwriters. With a roster that boasted the likes of Woody Guthrie, Odetta, Leadbelly, The Clancy Brothers and Lightnin' Hopkins, to name a few, and an eclectic assortment of folk music from around the world, Tradition was the forbearer of roots and wrold music movements.
In 1959 and 1960, to showcase their impressive folk catalog, Tradition released two groundbreaking compilation LPs that were in every serious folk enthusiast's collection - the two volumes were The Tradition Folk Sampler (Volume One) and The Folk Song Tradition (Volume Two).
